Bibliographical research

A primary goal of the TEFRA project is the comprehensive collection, and the creation of a database of published archaeological data which will provide evidence on the use of fire on human remains in the Aegean from the Neolithic period to the Early Iron Age (7th mill. BC to the 11th-9th century BC).

Archaeological cases of burned and/or cremated human remains as well as the use of fire in funerary rituals and the treatment of the dead will be entered in the database. Special emphasis will be given to the contextual documentation and comparative analysis of published archaeological data which focus on the use of fire on human remains in space and through time.
