Our specialized database, designed by Dr. Kalliopi Efkleidou, is prepared for use incorporating all the available bibliographical data about the use of fire in the manipulation of the deceased in the Aegean Prehistory, enriched with the primary macroscopic and microscopic recordings of bone assemblages from all around Greece.
Vaso Papathanasiou started the general categorization and recording of the first urn-burials from Early Iron Age Polichni, Thessaloniki, in the Laboratory of Thessaloniki Toumba excavation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Niki Papakonstantinou has been collecting and studying the publications, including mentions about cremation in Aegean Prehistory, while Yannis Chatzikonstantinou has been training in applying analytical methods in the burnt human remains in the Brussels Bioarchaeology Lab in Belgium, supervised by TEFRA’s consultant, Professor, Dr. Christophe Snoeck.
